About WriteShape

WriteShape is a browser editor for screenplays and books, made by Brian Day. Screenplays save as Fountain files; books save as Markdown. You can keep working with those files outside WriteShape.

Writing and saving

All writing and planning tools are free, including Focus mode, story insights, character profiles, writing goals, the beat sheet and beat guide. All supported exports are free, including phone-sized PDFs and character highlighting. You can write and open local files without an account. Your browser keeps a draft on this device. Download a copy to keep your work somewhere else, too.

Premium

Premium includes Google Drive access, automatic live collaboration on shared Drive documents. Both books and screenplays are included.

Premium is $5.99 USD per month or $59 USD per year. Hosted document storage is not included. Your local and Google Drive files stay yours when Premium ends.

Public beta

WriteShape is open to everyone during public beta. Sign in with Google for Public Beta Access, including Google Drive and live collaboration at no charge. Checkout and billing links are disabled. Beta access will never automatically become a paid subscription. Existing private testers retain their separate hosted-storage access.

Help

Use Report a problem in the app, or email support@writeshape.com. Tell us what you were trying to do and what went wrong. Please leave private writing out of reports and screenshots.
