WRITESHAPE

Terms of Use

Updated October 15, 2026

WriteShape is a writing app operated by Brian Day. These terms cover the current public beta. By using WriteShape, you agree to them. Questions can be sent to support@writeshape.com.

Your writing belongs to you

You keep ownership of your documents. You allow WriteShape to store, process, copy, and send them only as needed to provide the features you use, such as saving, recovery, export, and sharing. This does not give WriteShape ownership of your work or permission to publish it for its own purposes.

Only upload or share material you have permission to use. You decide who can access your writing. Removing access cannot recall copies someone has already downloaded or received.

Accounts and connected services

Public beta is open to everyone. Use your own accounts or accounts you have permission to use, and keep their sign-in details secure. Google Drive and other connected services have their own terms and permissions. Local folder access depends on browser permission.

Free and Premium

All writing and planning tools, local saving and autosave, and supported exports are free. You can write locally without an account. An account holds your profile and Premium access; it does not automatically include hosted document storage.

Premium includes Google Drive access and live collaboration for $5.99 USD per month or $59 USD per year. Google controls Drive storage and file permissions. During public beta, Premium features are included at no charge for everyone. Checkout and billing links are disabled. No subscription is created automatically when beta ends. An in-app notice will explain how to continue with Premium or free local writing.

Premium cancellation stops renewal at the end of the paid period. Google Drive sync and live editing then stop. Your account, local files and Google Drive files are kept. Premium cancellation does not delete existing WriteShape-hosted documents or their retained versions.

Existing cloud files remain available for their owners to read and download. Hosted storage invitations are separate from Premium and public beta access; existing private testers retain hosted storage, and the owner can grant additional invitations.

Keep a separate copy

Download a copy of important work. Browser data can be cleared, devices can fail, and connected services can become unavailable. Recovery and version history help with some failures, but do not replace your own backup. Export layout can differ between formats and reading apps.

Using the service

Do not use WriteShape to access someone else's account or documents, distribute malware, break the law, or interfere with the service. We may restrict access to address abuse or a security problem.

The preview may change or be interrupted. We cannot promise continuous availability, error-free exports, or recovery of every lost change. If you have trouble accessing your own files, contact support.

Leaving WriteShape

You can download your work, stop using the app, and disconnect linked services. Signing out does not delete saved files. Trash is reversible and keeps file history. Account → Cancel Premium stops renewal while keeping access through your paid term. Account → Delete account ends Premium immediately and permanently removes your WriteShape cloud work and history. Download a backup first; Drive and local files are kept. The Privacy Policy explains the data stored by the app and its service providers.

Changes to these terms

Updated terms will carry a new date. Any paid public release will have updated terms before real billing begins. These terms do not limit rights you have under applicable law.
